Question by : How to paint brick house?
Our house is like this buttery yellow colored vinyl siding with red brick. I hate it, I think it’s so ugly. I want to paint the house a nice mint green & the shutters & brick a deep chocolate brown. The roof is like this brown/black speckled color.
But I keep reading were people say not to paint brick. Why not? If you can’t paint it then is there some other way to like turn it from red to brown? I love the mint green color but I don’t want it to look like a Christmas tree because of the red bricks.
It’s really just the red bricks that are the problem. I hate the way they look, they just look ugly to me. I like natural earth tone colors, like greens & browns. Hence the mint green & chocolate brown. I don’t want the siding to be brown because then it would blend into the roof but I want to change the color of the siding from the ugly buttery yellow to something nicer looking & I can’t do that with red brick.
I don’t plan on doing it too soon. I won’t have money for it until at least Christmas & I don’t want to mess with it in zero degree weather. So its gonna be a spring job preferably, maybe a summer job if need be. So, how to paint brick?

Normally I would say not to paint brick but seeing as you are intent on doing so it’s vital that you prepare the surface properly as failure to do so will lead to problems for you down the line and you’ll end up with something worse than what you have now so check out the link below for tips on your project and good luck.
